Who Are We?

Founded in 1945, Shiels is an innovative Australian jewellery company with stores in SA, QLD, WA and NSW, as well as an amazing online range that can be accessed from anywhere!

A family owned and run business, Jack Shiels and his wife founded the company in Adelaide, South Australia and operated for over 32 years. In 1977 his company was sold to Albert Bensimon and his wife, Nyra. Their dream was to establish a reputation for quality, value and range, which they achieved by quickly expanding their selection to include more precious jewellery including silver, gold and diamonds.

From one small store in Adelaide, to over 40 stores that range in major shopping centres all throughout the country, Shiels is a true Aussie success story. Not only that, but after launching our online store in 2011, we have become a leading online jewellery retailer in Australia and across the globe.

While we have grown from the small business that once was, Shiels remains strongly tied to our family roots and we pride ourselves on providing an extensive range of jewellery that embodies passion, gratitude and quality, selecting only the best that the world has to offer.

The Different Roles At Shiels

“I first came on board three years ago as a casual in the marketing department. After previously working for companies where the culture and career development was lacking, it was refreshing that Shiels could provide a platform to learn and progress. Shiels has a strong family DNA at its core so it’s been a privilege to be part of a company that provides a welcoming environment and a place to grow and achieve your goals.”

Euan - Marketing Specialist

“I started at the company as a store manager and spent four years working at Shiels stores throughout Perth where I was given the opportunity to train many staff members who are still here to this day! When I wanted to take a step away from managing, I was given the opportunity to work in the web department in-store. My web role is sometimes challenging, but that makes it all the more fulfilling, especially as we get busier. Because I am so hands-on with our stock, I have lots of knowledge that lets me support my team whether it is the Store Support Office or the girls in-store. We’re always here to help one another, which is what is so great about this company.”

Mahonie - Web Team Member WA

“I work in our web sales customer service team where we interact directly with our current, past and future customers proving additional support and product knowledge” I love going the extra mile to help a customer with that perfect gift for a special occasion. Shiels is a flexible organisation that promotes employee wellbeing and work life balance. I enjoy the peer to peer recognition and fantastic team morale that is brought to our daily work life.”

David - Store Support Office

“My career journey with Shiels started only 18 months ago but it feels like I have belonged to the Shiels family for much longer. I came on board as a buyer with the goal to grow the Lab Grown diamond category and it has proved to be such an exciting experience. I have had the benefit of learning all things diamonds from a strong team of people who have invested their time in me and promote a good work culture environment. Shiels is a company that acknowledges hard work and encourages growth. As with any business, there are challenging and busy times but management are supportive and accommodating ensuring we as buyers, have the support we need to manage through these times.”

Kylie - Buyer

“I started my journey at Shiels back in 2004 and have been with the company for 18 years as the longest running in-store team member! I began as a casual, then moved to part time and eventually landed a career opportunity as a store manager which I went on to do for 12 years. Shiels is a family-owned business which means that there is reward and recognition for our hard work and achievements. My favourite thing about coming to work is getting those special moments with customers when I am able to find them the perfect piece of beautiful jewellery.”

Brenda - Store Team Member Joondalup

“I started as a casual at Shiels in May of 1992 doing tickets at the Support Office. When an opportunity arose for me to handle the wedding ring and gold department, I jumped at the opportunity to learn new skills. Since then I have taken on many managerial roles that led to a career path as the Inventory Operations Manager for the Planning and Web Operations. Shiels is very family friendly and I have become close friends with many of the people that I work with. I love the experience of seeing some unique and beautiful jewellery as well.”

Jannette - Inventory Operations Manager Jannette was recently recognised for 30 years with Shiels.

“I started at Shiels six years ago in 2016 as a store manager in Mirrabooka, and then took a career path to Galleria and then Belmont, successfully turning both of those stores around to become stores of the year! Now I am at Midland and have been given a career opportunity to step it up into where I am now. I love turning stores into a success, that’s my aim. I love a challenge, when people are needing help, I get in at ground level to get in with the team and work directly with them. If there is one single word to describe the company culture here at Shiels: it's family.”

Trish - Midland Store Manager
