How To Start A Seiko Presage Watch From A Stopped State
To start a Seiko Presage watch from a stopped state you can manually wind the mainspring completely by slowly turning the crown clockwise away from yourself 20 times.
Alternatively, you can shake the watch which will turn the weighted rotor in the back of the case which will also wind the main spring. Then chuck the watch on your wrist and your natural movement will do the rest.
How To Set The Time And Date On A Seiko Presage Watch
The first step is setting the date, but before that, you should know that Seiko recommends not changing the date between 9 PM and 1 AM as this can damage the date mechanism. To change the date, pull out the crown into the first position and rotate the crown anti-clockwise towards yourself. To make sure the date is set correctly by the end of this process, set the date one day before the current date. For example, I’m writing this on the 28th, so I would set the date to the 27th.
The next step is setting the time. To get the time set as accurately as possible, wait until the second-hand reaches 12 o’clock and pull the crown out into the second position. Then rotate the crown clockwise away from yourself to turn the time forwards.
Once the watch passes 12 AM, the date will tick over from the previous date, to the current date. Keep rotating the crown until you reach your current time. Keep in mind AM and PM times.
Set the watch one minute ahead, pull out your phone to watch the next minute tick over and press the crown in so you’ll be perfectly in sync with the current time.
