A self-professed hopeless romantic, Kim Kardashian is no stranger to marriage having walked down the aisle three times. And while the marriages sadly did not go the distance, the diamond engagement rings that were the direct result of the marriages will live on in our hearts for all of eternity. Marrying for the first time just shy of nineteen, the star’s first marriage to music producer Damon Thomas didn’t include a ring, however, the diamond engagement rings she received from future husbands Kris Humphries and Kanye west more than made up for this.

After a string of high profile relationships, Kim Kardashian finally found luck in the love department when she was introduced to NBA basketball player, Kris Humphries. The six-foot-nine former power forward towered over the reality star’s petite frame but they appeared to be a great match nevertheless. Following a whirlwind long-distance romance, the former New Jersey Nets player got down on one knee after just five months of dating in May 2011. Leaving a trail of rose petals leading up to the bodacious star’s bedroom, Kris proposed by laying out a bunch of petals that spelt out, “will you marry me, Kim?” Naturally, reality TV cameras were there to capture the moment Kim said yes and laid eyes on the stunning 20.5-carat diamond ring. Designed by Kim’s go-to jewellery designer, Lorraine Schwartz, the ring from the Los Angeles native’s basketballer husband boasted a large 16.5-carat emerald-cut centre diamond and two 2-carat emerald or baguette-cut side stones. With a reported worth of around $2-3 million, the magnificent bauble was nothing short of grand. It is even speculated that Humphries designed the emerald-cut engagement ring based on a diamond ring that Kim had coveted from a young age. A self-professed Elizabeth Taylor superfan, some say the ring took inspiration from the late star’s 29.5-carat emerald-cut ring from fiancee Mike Todd.
Following a lot of fanfare, Kim and Kris exchanged vows and wedding rings at a star-studded ceremony attended by the likes of Eva Longoria, Serena Williams, Lindsay Lohan, Ciara and many more famous faces. The bride wore not one or two but three custom-made wedding dresses designed by Hollywood’s go-to wedding dressmaker, Vera Wang and accessorised her look with a diamond-encrusted hairpiece that was pinned into her bun, a pair of timeless diamond drop earrings and a custom diamond bracelet with the bride and groom’s initials intertwined. Following the nuptials, Kim added a matching channel-set diamond band to her bridal set as a wedding ring. Despite all the buzz about this union which was reportedly televised for a hefty sum, the marriage famously came to an end after just 72 days. Humphries would later auction off the ring for $749,000.

Kim Kardashian Kanye West Engagement Ring
Following her dramatic split from Kris Humphries, Kim would find love again with rapper and fashion designer Kanye West. Known for his keen eye for fashion and his outspoken persona that often lands him in hot water, Kim and Kanye are each other’s male and female counterparts. So, when the pair who had been friends for years go together in early 2012, it was like a match made in heaven. Referred to as Kimye by the press, the pairing brought the couple’s individual celebrity to new heights-causing a media sensation. Three months after the birth of the couple’s first child, North West, Kimye became engaged on October 21 2013 (Kim’s 33rd birthday). Naturally, the engagement was an over the top affair with the rapper proposing in front of friends and family along with a string-piece orchestra at San Francisco’s AT&T Park. The Grammy winner hired out the stadium for the occasion and had “Will you please marry me” written on the jumbotron before getting down on one knee and proposing to his love with a ring designed by Lorraine Schwartz. Consisting of over 15-carats, Kim’s oval engagement ring from Kanye features a D-grade cushion-cut diamond that has been described by diamond experts as “internally flawless”. Accentuated by a thin platinum band with micro-pave diamonds, the ring likely cost a staggering $8 million.
Kimye would eventually tie the knot in 2014 at a romantic ceremony in Florence, Italy. Considerably more lowkey than the reality star’s previous nuptials, although just as elaborate, Kim walked down the aisle in a body-hugging lace gown designed by the French fashion house, Givenchy that she complemented with a pair of stud earrings arranged in a diamond cluster. White and pink roses littered the historic venue at Forte Belvedere which boasts sprawling views of the romantic Italian city and Italian singer Andre Bocelli provided the music for the event, including the couple’s first dance. Their first official photo as man and wife garnered over two million likes on Instagram, becoming one of the most liked images in Instagram history and Kim officially adopted the moniker Kim Kardashian West personally as well as professionally. Following the lovebirds’ second anniversary, Kanye would upgrade his wife’s ring to a cushion-cut engagement ring that was pretty much identical to the other with the exception of its size which was over 20-carats. Unfortunately, this second ring was stolen in an armed robbery that the star fell victim to that same year during Paris Fashion Week. The star was not known to wear a wedding ring with her engagement ring, however, following the robbery the star stopped wearing her engagement bling in favour of a thin platinum ring with pave diamonds. But sadly, not all good things last, as after eight years and four kids together, Kimye officially filed for divorce in early 2021.
