The Guy
In 1998, when Jennifer was at the height of her Friends fame and everyone was out there rocking the Rachel haircut, her star would rise once again when she connected up with highly esteemed actor and Hollywood heartthrob Brad Pitt. The twosome quickly became Hollywood’s darlings and we all gazed in awe whenever they made an incredibly stylish red carpet appearance together or whenever they spoke fondly about one another in interviews. The coupling was so notorious that it would only be triumphed by Brad’s next high profile relationship (Brangelina anybody?). Initially meeting in 1994 during an innocent catch-up with both of their managers, the actors wouldn’t go on their first date for another four years when they ran into each other again.
Making their official red carpet debut in 1999 at the Primetime Emmy Awards, the two would get engaged two months or so later when Jennifer Aniston was spotted with a big diamond sparkler on that finger when the couple got on stage at a Sting concert. Not much is known exactly how Brad Pitt popped the question, however, judging by the style of this It couple we can guarantee that it was pretty epic. Then, less than a year of becoming engaged, the pair would exchange wedding rings at a star-studded affair in Malibu during July, 2000. As you can imagine, it was a very over-the-top affair with over 50,000 flowers, a 40-person choir, lots of lobster and champagne, a performance by singer Melissa Etheridge as well as a 13-minute firework show that reportedly cost the couple a cool $1 million USD ($1.3 million AUD). Despite their high profile nuptials, the pair were fiercely private about their nuptials and rarely ever spoke about it. Sadly, their union would come to an end in 2005 and Brad Pitt would begin an even higher-profile relationship with his Mr and Mrs Smith co-star Angelina Jolie-whom he would later marry and then divorce.
The Ring
So, what type of engagement ring do you give one of the most beautiful and stylish people on the planet?
Well, Brad Pitt opted for a diamond halo ring that he personally helped to sketch with the head designer of the jewellery brand Silvia Damiani. Reportedly costing a whopping $500,000 USD (almost $685,000 AUD), the white gold ring boasted a large round-cut centre diamond and was surrounded by an array of smaller sparkling round-cut diamonds. The bespoke ring also featured a setting that was adorned in a swirl style, something that was thought to be representative of eternity for the engagement ring’s designer. It is unknown exactly how many carats were in Jen’s ring, however, judging by the sheer size of it we are certain that it is quite a few carats higher than the average diamond engagement rings out there.
Upon tying the knot, Aniston accessorised her massive engagement ring with an elegant white gold or platinum ring that featured ten small diamonds around the interior side of the band. Brad would sport a wedding ring that mirrored this design. Both rings reportedly had ‘Brad 2000’ and ‘Jen 2000’ engraved on the inside. However, due to her engagement ring’s incredibly grand design, Jennifer would often wear her wedding ring and eventually her eternity ring on her right hand while continuing to wear her engagement ring on her left hand. It isn’t known whether she kept the engagement ring following the demise of the pair’s marriage, however, we can imagine a ring this beautiful was very hard to let go of.

After moving on from Brad with a string of other high profile relationships with the likes of actor Vince Vaughn and Hollywood’s favourite bad boy singer John Mayer, Jennifer would meet her match with actor and screenwriter Justin Theroux. Meeting on the set of their 2007 film, Tropic Thunder, the pair wouldn’t actually begin dating until reuniting for the 2011 film Wanderlust. Theroux who was already an established actor and writer but wasn’t exactly a household name was instantly smitten with the blonde beauty and she was with him as well, so much so that they bought a house and moved in together less than a year after they had begun dating. The two even adopted a puppy together which you know means things are getting serious when that happens and Theroux was even sitting there in the front row supporting Jennifer as she received a much-deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
After a whirlwind romance, Theroux got down on one knee and proposed to the actress on her 41st birthday while the pair were celebrating in New York City at an eatery in Grenwhich Village. According to sources at the time, the proposal was simple yet incredibly sweet and Jen shed a few tears of joy. But despite getting engaged so quickly into their relationship, the pair weren’t in the big of a rush to get to the altar. Coming in at an epic 9-carats the ring is certainly fit for royalty or at the very least, Hollywood royalty. It is not known who designed the giant sparkler, however, Aniston has said that he worked alongside jewellery designers that Jennifer has known for years to come up with the bespoke creation. While she was completely taken back by Justin’s proposal, just was instantly smitten with her brand new gold engagement ring commenting that “he knows what I like”.
Magazines and online gossip sites reported at the time that the ring was reportedly worth around $500,000 USD, the same amount that Brad Pitt is said to have spent on her engagement ring. Boasting an extremely simple setting, a lot of diamond jewellery lovers fawned over this diamond solitaire engagement ring because it allowed its exquisite oval-cut diamond to be the focal point of the piece and there were no additional design features that the stone could potentially get lost in.
